While considering a new pontoon boat, selecting the right floor plan and number of seats is an important aspect that must be considered. There are multiple configuration options available for pontoon boat seating that enable an individual to choose one that best fits their needs. While making their choice, being knowledgeable of a few facts can assist them in deciding upon the right seating.
Different types of Seating Configurations
There are different types of pontoon boat seating configurations that depend on the length of the boat, the layout of floor plan and the purpose of the boat. Every configuration will include a sole helm chair that is installed at the console and is meant for the person who will be steering the boat. The other seats and benches to be installed will depend on a few factors.
Depending on the length of the boat
Boat length is one of the main factor that affects the seating. Boats with small length will have less space for installation of seats and hence will accommodate less passengers. On the other hand, large boats can be fitted with more seats and benches and will house more people. While buying a boat, a person can choose a length that will enable them to install seating that is adequate depending on number of people they expect to come aboard.
Depending on layout of floor plan
The floor plan will play a part in the seating configuration of the boat. For smaller sized boats, the pontoon boat seating will generally accommodate 5 to 9 people with the floorplan enabling installation of a couple of benches at front or rear and another placed parallel to the helm seat. Boats that are medium or large sized may have floorplans that allow fitting of a couple of benches at bow and another couple at stern with ability to seat 10 to 15 passengers. The larger boats may even have a bench parallel to the helm chair that could enable one or two more passengers to come on board.
Depending on purpose the boat is going to be used for
A boat designed for fishing may have pontoon boat seating with special foldable chairs at the bow of the boat each of which can be occupied by a single person. The stern of the boat may also include more fishing chairs or may have regular lounges or benches for accommodating multiple passengers. The benches may even be modified to create space for installation of livewells as well as storage compartments for fishing equipment.
Individuals whose main purpose is to have a relaxing time on the water, may opt for reclining lounge seats that can be converted into beds when fully reclined. These maybe electric and allow individuals to sun bathe and have a few serene moments all to themselves. These are generally installed at the stern of the pontoon boat and generally a boat can accommodate two of these at maximum.
For entertaining quite a few guests or having family reunions an individual will require a pontoon boat seating that can seat maximum number of guests. The person can opt for installing benches both at bow and stern end to accommodate as many people as possible. Benches may be installed at opposite ends with tables in between them and the configuration might extend into an L-shaped setting.
