June 5, 2017 by Dan

A pontoon boat, also known as the raft or house boat, consists of two or more floating parts upon which a deck(s) is installed which actually house the people on board. The prime difference between a conventional boat and a pontoon is that the deck is not integrated as a single unit to the hull of the boat in a pontoon. Care and safety must be kept as overloading a pontoon with excessive passengers may lead to fatal consequences. The question arises in mind that how much passengers can a pontoon accommodate? The pontoon boats come in three main different standard sizes which are the small, medium and large. The small size pontoon boat has a standard width of 8ʹ. The standard lengths of the boat are 12ʹ, 13ʹ, 14ʹ, 15ʹ, 16ʹ, 18ʹ or 19ʹ. The standard pontoon diameter is 24ʺ or 26ʺ. The number of pontoons in a small pontoon boat is kept to 2.

The standard medium offers more free room compared to the standard small size pontoon as the standard width, length and diameter is larger than the small one. The medium pontoon comes in standard widths of 8ʹ, 8.5ʹ and 10ʹ. The standard lengths are 20ʹ, 25ʹ, 30ʹ, 35ʹ, 40ʹ. The standard pontoon diameter is 24ʺ, 26ʺ, 28ʺ, 30ʺ, 33ʺ, 36ʺ. The number of pontoons in the medium size is 2 or 3. Compared to the small one, the medium has got a 5ʹ jump in the standard length whereas the small one has a difference of 1ʺ. The medium size comes in three different widths and much larger diameters.
